Yesterday I found the latest copy of the old farmers almanac.

This book is a gem!

It is loaded with SOOOO many facts.

Not only will we have a cold winter,

and next summer will be rainy.

This year there was a few pages on spitting.....

#2 I HATE spitting

Did you know that in the middle ages @ meal times spitting was allowed.

Dinners were encouraged to spit under the table.....

My Little Corn Dog

I am slowly going insane!Why do you ask?

because over a small Dachshund....

His name is Bo.

He has been with me for 4 months now.

I have posted about him in the past.

He looks sweet and Innocent....

I have purchased 4 garbage cans in 4 months...

Bo gets into them.

This last one had a lock and a bungee cord on it to keep it closed.

Sunday I BBQ ed corn and the cobs were in the new sturdy garbage can...

Bo got in...I am surprised he did not knock an eye out with the bungee cord...

No instead he ate 1/2 of a cob of corn..

We had a few rough days...along with many calls to the vet.

On day 2 off the the Vet he went for a corn cob extraction.

The vet said he was quite verbal...

I would be to...due to the fact no anesthesia was used.

Bo is doing well now....

BUT he has more kidney stones.

We shall cross THAT bridge soon.

In the mean time I will call him my little corn dog.

So glad I can still laugh after that Vet bill.

What a delightful day!

Not only is my new job working out great...but my patient and I were able to see the space shuttle right outside the window of my room!#1 Yes I got a new job a few months ago.

It is 1.5 miles from my home.

It is nice, clean, and the equipment works too...Imagine that.

I also go home for lunch to walk Bo and see what damage he has done.

Delight Yet Demon

Bo is a delight, yet at the same time a Demon!

This morning at 5:00AM he shook, wined and jumped against the bed.

I opened one eye...saw the time....wondered if he HAD to go out...Or was this a new habit he was forming.

At 7:30 I got up after many attempts of Bo waking me earlier.

Took him for a walk.

All was fine.

He can NOT keep doing this!

He has an obsession of licking and chewing himself.

Went to the pet store to get a remedy........

Do you know what they sell there?

Everything from breath spray to deodorant to dry shampoo.

I do believe a lot of this is a scam...

I will not fall for this...as I buy a new toy today

Bo is living with me

Bo has been living with me for about thee months.

let me see

How did this start...

Dad was very sick and still has little strength.

Bo seems so innocent

Let me share with you some of his special talents.

#1 He likes to walk on furniture when I leave the house.

like the coffee table, end tables, kitchen table, washer, dryer, and bathroom sink.

Then he throws stuff on the floor.

My reading glasses (Broke 2 pairs)

My underwear, socks then floss and toothpaste.

I figured he had to clean up after the socks and underwear.

#2 He has gross eating habits.

Used Kleenex, clean toilet paper that he drags throughout the living room and kitchen...this is from the roll in the bathroom.

#3 He pulled DOWN a set of blinds in my room.

I can NOT figure out how that one done, or why.
#4 he drank part of a cup of coffee then threw the rest on the floor.

All of these things I come home to.

At night he sleeps in his own bed and barks in his sleep.

I love him so!

He is such a great addition to my life.

Getting back to normal

Things are getting back to normal. Dad was in the hospital and rehab for a total of 6 weeks. It got to the point he just wanted to go home. Home he went. A nurse and physical therapist goes to his house 3 times a week. I still have Bo and he might be a permanent member of my family. I want to thank everyone for their warm wishes and prayers.

Getting back to normal. What ever that may be.

My dad has been ill for the last 4 weeks

First it started with arrhythmia...that led to congestive heart failure.

For that they did a cardio conversion.

Off to rehab he went to gain strength.

In rehab once again...arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, and phenomena.

Back to the hospital for more intensive recovery

Now he is back in rehab and on Friday was the first he walked with a walker in 3 weeks

It is a day by day experiences.The fun part is ....Guess who is staying with me.

I hate driving I 95.

I guess because I am getting old and the unexpected could happen at any moment.

For an example....

A car in front of me had his front hood fly open!

CRAZY MAN!

Simply crazyI stop at at a grocery store as I got off I 95 in Boca to pick up a few things.

Coming out of the store I was asked the question...

Would like to buy some Girl Scouts Cookies?

I responded no thanks

This girl had the nerve to ask why not....
I was astonished.

I turn around to face the mothers with a questioning look upon my face, and my mouth was wide open in complete disbelief.

The Mom called her girl back and told her that was too much.

I used to be a Girl Scout...we did not ask why..we said thank you and went on to the next house.

Times change.

The beach was filled with Man O War.
Another strange thing we saw was this man driving.

He had a bird on his hand out the window

Today Dad and I went to the Dentist.I NEVER said he or I had perfect dental health.
I had my teeth cleaned.

For both of us it was a traumatic experience.

I can not even go into it at this point and time.

Trying Times

Kris and I have known each other for over 31 years.

With that being said.

#1 this is a joke just for Kris.#2 Jimmy, Kris's husband and the family are going through some trying times now.

His Mom Teresa had blood cancer.

She went through chemo.

She is weak, and can't keep anything down.

I am asking EVERYONE for all of your prayers.

This is the time we all pull together and wish her well!

Cream of Broccoli Soup

I made a tasty Cream of Broccoli soup.

This delightful soup left a pleasant taste in my mouth. I want to make it often.2T butter

1 onions chopped

1 garlic clove chopped

1 stalk celery chopped

2 (14 oz) of chicken broth

4 C. broccoli chopped

4T butter

2C. milk

1/2C. velveeta cheese

Melt 2 T. butter in med size stock pot. Saute' onion, garlic and celery until tender

Add broccoli and broth. Cover and simmer for 10 min

Puree soup

Return to heat.

In a small sauce pan over medium heat melt 3 T butter, stir in flour and add milk

Stir until thick and bubbly, add to soup

Add cheese until melted

Yum

Despite our recent frosty temperatures.

I am having some success with my veggies.Broccoli is such a cool plant that keeps producing.

Once you harvest the first crop new flowers keep sprouting up along the stalk.
I am in a terrible battle with the Mocking birds.
They swoop in to have a feast on my tomatoes.
I try to get them to leave, but they keep coming back for another feast.
They are just mocking me! :)

This is the second attempt at growing lettuce.
The first one was fed to the caterpillars.
I did not feed them....they invited themselves.
I was speechless.

I went to Dads house and we watched Eat Pray Love.

Not a movie I would recommend.I got Dad this new motion detector light and put it up.

Elizabeth Edwards funeral was today.

I heard her daughter speak of her mother.

They had a special thing they would say on the phone to each other.

One would say I love you

At the funeral Cate said the final I Love You more.

It reminded me when I spoke to my Mom before she died...

I asked her:

I thought this year would be different...I did.....I really did.

The past 2 years Dad has done Thanksgiving, and I have gotten sick.

Dad leaves the bird in the sink too long to defrost,

or stuffs the cold bird with warm stuffing, then lets it rest on the counter about an hour to rest...prior to cooking.

Right now the bird is in the sink and has been there for a few hours.
I hope I do not have a repeat of the past two years.

So many exciting things happened in just one day! Our first cold front came through today and the temps were in the high 50s when I got up this morning.

I Survived Tropical Storm Nicole

It has been sooo long since I have posted..... Since then I have survived tropical storm Nicole.
No big deal.... some rain and I had to work an extra day....long story.

I planted many tomato plants....and this year I think I will try spinach!?! What the heck.

I have had an ongoing problem that has been going on for about 3-4 years. Someone...we will call him Joe.... has a credit problem. Joe gave my phone number as his and now for several years credit companies, bill collectors, and the seedy sort call me from 8AM. to 9PM. trying to find Joe.
I am DONE!

Now the Attorney General from the state of Florida shall attend to this matter!

I have more important things to do........... like change my phone number.....or tend to my tomatoes....Or watch my new favorite shows like....Swamp People, Sister wives...Horders...or my Fave...Football....NOT

Dad had a problem with a neighbor hacking up Dads buffer bushes.

What does this mean you ask???

The neighbors yard is an eye sore from random cars through out the yard to ski mobiles to yard signs randomly placed in their yard.

Now the buffer bushes are so thin you can see through them.

I did have to call the police when the neighbor spit on me when he was yelling at me when I confronted him.

Bewildered

The events of last few days still bewilder me.
Once again I contracted poison ivy.

My car decided to only go idle speed only. That was not fast enough to get around town.
It was towed to the local dealership on a big tow truck. I had my first ride in a tow truck.
They said my car was fixed Friday afternoon.
Good !!!! just in time for the holiday weekend:)

Saturday morning going over the Roosevelt bridge the car spits, sputters, jolts, and violently jerks.
I get the sick feeling in my stomach again that I will be stuck on the side of the road.

I made it to Dads house and once again my car was towed. Nissan offered to rent a car this time but due to the fact it is a holiday weekend. There are NO cars available.

I will keep you updated on all of the new wind chimes I will make this weekend.

I changed out a ceiling fan this weekend....and it worked!

This is the sturdy step ladder Dad let me borrow...

Do you think it has seen it's better days? Some of the things I worked with today are wire connectors.

I had to use countless screwdrivers.

I have inherited these from Dad over the years.

You must understand when Dad gives you a tool it is WELL used.

Some of these screwdrivers could now be used as awls because they are so worn.

Players were also used in this task.

I even used this Multi gage precision wire stripper.

This was a first for me :)

Bo Is On The Mend

Bo is on the mend!

No more collar.

his back legs do stumble...so that means there could be spinal problems :{

Time will tell.

He ran and wiggled like he hasn't in 1 month.
This has made me happier than I have been in a long time.

He has a new neighbor next door................... another Dachshund................his name is Buddy.

They love each other.

I shall share pix soon

Ceiling Fans Torment Me!

I made this for myself. It makes a righteous sound when a breeze comes by.

I had an exhausting day..........

I had to change out 2 ceiling fans down stairs.

The first one just stopped working???

The second one was not installed correctly and you can only run it on low.

This is not acceptable to me .....nor is it good for resale.

I changed out the broken one and it STILL will not work???

I will have the handy man help later this week.

The other I did not attempt because I was so distressed over the first one.

Oh well

He keeps taking the collar off Bo.I TRY to discuss this with him.....BUT

On Monday Dad SAID Bo took off his own collar and went under the bed and chewed and licked ALL of his stitches out.

Back to the vet they went and ALL stitches went back in.

This time there was a $ FEE $

Dad now keeps the collar on Bo all of the time.

Bo is so pitiful

Dad felt sorry for Bo and did not make him wear his collar.

I call it a necklace.

Bo chewed some of his stitches out.

Back to the vet Dad went.

Not only did they stitch Bo back up but they also provided him with this larger collar.

This collar is not only pitiful, but it hurts you leg when Bo keeps running into you .

He runs into everything with this.

2 More weeks. Check out my second pineapple I have harvested this year.

The smell is wonderful and it is so sweet.
This is my latest addition to my etsy shop.

It has been hot.

Bo is getting better

Bo had his surgery yesterday.

He is doing well. his back legs stumble a little

When you take him out to go pee he can't lift his leg yet...he just pees as he walks and it ends up on his right front leg.

He will get better!

This an old picture of Bo when he was healthy and I had no clue of how to take pictures.

As you can see.Bo is getting progressively worse as days go by.

The kidney stone is killing him.

Maybe I can take him to the vet tomorrow and get a catheter in and drugs going...to get him out of pain.

DACHSHUND BEST WISHES FOR BO

For the last three weeks

Bo has not been up to par.

First his right front leg was bothering him...so we gave him 81mg of aspirin.

Usually this does the trick.

This time he just seemed to go down hill.

On his birthday a neighbor gave him 4 treats and then in the afternoon I gave him doggie ice cream.

He got violently sick that night...threw up and laid on his side with his tongue out.

We took Bo to the vet this week...exam, blood work...all was fine.

He was just lethargic.

This morning after Dad got back from the grocery store...

Bo just laid in his side.

Dad scooped him up and off to the vet he went.

Another exam, X Rays...

Kidney stone!

The size if a dime!

Poor Bo no wonder he has not been feeling well.
You know Dad gets kidney stones...
Is this hereditary :)
Tuesday is Bo's surgery.

My safe room is cleared out and ready for whatever.

I have 15 gallons of water and no cans of spam.

A pineapple plant fell onto its side.

I hope that is all I have to deal with.

Look what I found at the garbage area this morning.

I thought about it ALL day long!
I loved the set!
It is metal and needs a LOT of work!

The best part is the back of the chairs!

I will get rid of the rust.

Recover the seats.

And maybe a glass top for the table.

Bo can be hypontized

I call them circus tricks.

Dad calls me crazy.

I have found a new trick with Bo.

You see I wiggle my 10 fingers in the air.

Bo goes into the begging position.

Wants scratches...which leads to him kissing my hand.

Then he goes into a trance...like so.

Then slowly falls to his side.

I help him with this part of being hypnotized.

So he doesn't hurt his back.

Dad says I spoil him!?!

Is this a problem?
I have had another sinus infection for days on end.
Put it this way Dad did not give me my 6:00AM wake up calls......HAAAA

The pain is excruciating !

We love hanging out with our dogs -- don't get us wrong. But we draw the line, whenever possible at least, at bringing them along on excursions we suspect would make them uncomfortable or anxious.
One pastime we can never imagine making our own mutts participate in: scuba diving. They aren't the biggest fans of water to begin with, but even the most water-friendly Labrador would take issue with having a mask placed over his face and submerged, we suspect.
Dog owner Sergei Gorbunov of Vladivostok, Russia, doesn't seem to share our qualms, however. The professional diver has equipped his dachshund, Boniface, with a wetsuit and helmet designed to allow him to breathe underwater, and he's trying to convince the little guy that diving is really a great idea.
Gorbunov doesn't seem to be hurting Boniface at all -- but the whines the dog can be heard emitting underwater are enough to convince us that he'd really rather be on dry land. Gorbunov seems to think otherwise, however. 'Underwater, I don't think he experiences any stress,' he told the Associated Press.
Couldn't little Boniface just try surfing, instead?"

I made this for Dads Yard. I thought it was groovy.

Dad will hate it until a neighbor complements him on the artsy new addition to his yard.
This is a recycled art piece I had in my garden, until the hurricanes got it.
I fixed it up and WAA LAA.

This a recent wind chime I made out of REAL beach glass that my friend Diane sent me from California.

You can not appreciate the uniqueness of this.

Most of the pieces have writing on them and I could not capture it in the picture.

I will not sell this on etsy, but I will try to sell it in my dental office where people can touch and see it up close and personal.

Recently I met a man in his 70s and he was sporting this ring.
You have to understand I have seen 5 super bowl rings or world series rings.
These are BIG rings on any mans hands.
So I spot this ring...ask to take a look....and say congratulations.
The man responds....... no congratulations to you for meeting me?!?
Whatever.
I come to find out later he did NOT win this ring ..................................he bought it on E-Bay!
People STILL amaze me and I am almost 50 years old.

Kidney Stones

I did not mean to keep every one waiting on Dad.

He is doing well. Considering what he went through, he is doing well.

The Dr. was expecting the stone to be the size of a golf ball......and in reality it was the size if a tennis ball.

The surgery took longer than expected. Needless to say. I read EVERYTHING in the waiting room! I learned more than I ever wanted to know concerning E.D.

Dad is more grumpy than usual...But what else is to be expected.

As Dad would say....WHATEVER.
